Wouldn’t it be great if there was a way to engage an entire community in publicizing your property listings? If they became so excited about who the next tenant could be, that they even started contacting retailers themselves, sharing your particulars with them? And wouldn't it be great if, in the process, it helped you to provide your clients with the most suitable tenants without any extra effort?
"YES!" shout a thousand agents across the land, "IT WOULD BE GREAT!"
At WhatShopHere, we set up community polls to find out what types of shops local people would like on their high street when a unit becomes available.
When landlords choose tenants that the community wants, the new shops thrive, which makes them more stable and reliable rent payers. Communities are keen to have some input in the selection of the shops on their high streets. This means that when a poll is set up, it ignites a community conversation that generates exposure for the vacant shop in question. When votes are in, communities and landlords are provided with a results document that they can use to approach their favourite retailers. If a shop is approached by a community equipped with a demonstration of how many people in an area would like to become loyal customers, it makes the unit more attractive.
So if someone in a community approaches you asking to put a poster in a vacant shop's window, remember, we're not trying to steal your business - quite the opposite: we can help your units gather exposure, and attract the best tenants. And if you ended up on this site without an approach from the community, why not request a poll for one of your units and see if it helps. You can complete a short form here for any of your vacant units, or you can encourage your clients, the landlords, to do so.
We will then provide:
- a link on this website with a poll for the empty shop.
- a poster (like this) to print out and put in the shop window, inviting local people to vote
- a digital flyer (like this) to publicize the poll on social media.
- a persuasive vote results document that can be used to approach new tenants.
